Knauf Insulation was featured in a two-hour, 100th
anniversary episode of ABC’s Extreme Makeover:
Home Edition on Sunday, November 25, at 8
p.m. The episode showed the conversion of a
Minnesota family’s three-bedroom, 2,300 square foot
house into a 5,600 square foot, seven bedroom home
large enough to accommodate a family of 10.
In September 2006, Hopkins,
Minnesota teacher Vicki Swenson’s widowed sister was
fatally shot in an act of domestic violence. Already
parents of three, Vicki and her husband Erik adopted her
sister Teri’s four children. A 10th member to
the Swenson family was added in November 2007 with the
birth of a daughter. While caring for a rapidly growing
family, Vicki still found time to author two state
legislature bills that offer greater protection against
domestic violence incidents.
Knauf Insulation teamed up with
distributor Tri-Star Insulation and installer Nordic
Insulation to donate the insulation batts used to
insulate the Swenson’s newly expanded home. Knauf
Insulation President Bob Claxton noted that while the
insulation will keep the family members comfortable, it
will also help them conserve energy during the harsh
Minnesota winters. “Knauf Insulation is privileged to
have played a small role in helping this family overcome
very trying circumstances,” he noted. The Swenson
family’s Extreme Home Makeover can be seen online at
